You may be surprised to know that DAR has a National Defense Committee. DAR established the National Defense Committee in 1926 to assist members in carrying out the patriotic, educational, and historical objectives of the National Society and to promote an enlightened public opinion. It has always advocated a strong American military defense.
This committee also sponsors JROTC, ROTC and DAR Youth Citizenship awards. I noted earlier that I had the honor of presenting the DAR Youth Citizenship Award to a local 5th grade student in April.
We also have a National Defense Night during our annual Continental Congress in Washington, DC. It is always one of the most anticipated and exciting evenings where DAR can honor our servicemen and women who selflessly provide for our strong national defense. Can't wait to find out what's in store this year! Stay tuned...
