Day 71 of 110: 1930 Papers

The old typewritten pages I discovered recently conclude noting achievements of recent Daughters of the Colonel Joseph Winston Chapter.

The three daughters of our chapter who have been honored by the national organization as Vice-Presidents General, have fully merited the honor bestowed. All North Carolina daughters appreciate this recognition of merit. Not alone for the thee from our chapter bur for the three from other State chapters, who have been recipients of the same honor. The State has been ably represented by them and has through these representative daughters received favorable National recognition. They have also served acceptably on State and National committees and Mrs. W.N. Reynolds, through the National Officers Club, and our Chapter has present to the Constitution Hall a magnificent pipe organ.

Our chapter numbers 77, has had twelve regents counting the present one. We hope as it increases in numbers it will also increase in service to the State and Nation.

With this last bit of information, we can conclude that by 1930 the three members of our chapter elected to the office of NSDAR Vice President General were Mrs. Lucy Patterson and Mrs. Kate Bitting Reynolds. But the third is currently a mystery. I can't help but wonder why each wasn't specifically cited in the history when it was written in 1930.

However, we do know the 12 regents (Mrs. Gilmer served twice). These outstanding ladies were
