I'm not a patient person, and I'm not known for sitting still for long without something to do. So, I typically carry something to read wherever I go. Recently I received the new edition of I've American Spirit, the magazine published by DAR. I immediately tucked it into my pocketbook for my "while I'm sitting and waiting somewhere reading material." When I had to stop by the mobile phone store a few days later, my magazine was very handy during my long wait.
One of the first articles in the magazine was entitled Reaching for the Stars and told the story of one of today's modern DAR Daughters and her outstanding achievements. I won't retell the story here...you can read it for yourself. But the point is, DAR is comprised of modern women of all ages with a wide-variety of interests and dreams. I enjoy the variety of women who are part of our organization - from the avid genealogist to the VA hospital volunteer to the young mother and attorney who clips coupons to donate to families of servicemen and women assigned to overseas bases.
DAR has something for everyone...in every age group and allows us all to reach for the stars together!
